Investigation: All About Weather Read More »
Children identify properties of weather, such as hot and cold (temperature), raining or not (precipitation), and cloudy or sunny (cloud cover). As they learn more, children can express more specific and precise information such as warm or cool (temperature); hail, snow, drizzle, downpour (precipitation); and more detailed descriptions of clouds, cloud cover, and wind.
Examples: Child says/gestures/signs “hot” when getting into a hot car that sat in a sunny location on a warm day. Child says/gestures/signs “rain” when heading outside on a rainy day. Child indicates when clouds appear and block the sun while outside during the day.
