General Guide to Adaptations

Description

Model and make suggestions for what the child might do with the blocks. Offer specific ideas:

    • “I wonder how we could make a road.”
    • “Let’s put this block on top of that block.”
    • “I wonder how high these blocks can go.”
    • “I think the block on top made the tower fall down.”
    • “Let’s put the big blocks on the bottom and the little blocks on top.”

Interactive Lesson

Instruction

  • Use visuals to elicit ideas of how to use blocks (e.g., picture of simple three-block tower).
  • Provide wait time after offering an idea or asking a question to give children processing time before expecting a response.
